Network Ten newsreader Charmaine Dragun has been found dead today in Sydney. Ms Dragun's body was reportedly found in Sydney's The Gap around 4.00pm this afternoon.
Originally from Western Australia, Ms Dragun was a radio and television journalist in Perth before moving to the east to co-present Ten's Perth news bulletin, which is based in Sydney. The 29-year-old also presented the Friday late night national news.
Police are investigating the incident but are treating the death as non-suspicious.
In a statement released earlier this evening, Ten chief Grant Blackley offered condolences on behalf of the network:
"We are all in a state of shock and sadness at this terrible news. Charmaine was a highly intelligent, vibrant and caring person, universally liked and admired by her colleagues.
"Our deepest sympathies go to her partner, Simon, and her family. We are doing what we can to support them and urge everyone to respect their privacy at this time."

This is just a tragedy, she was my favourite news reader, she had a smile that would light up the screen. My heart goes out to her family.
I really feel for you and your family. Mental Illness is rife in todays society. It just goes to show you that beauty, money, and being lovely, does not bring happiness.. I have been very close myself, and too, are very successful, not ugley, have a loving partner.. and for some reason, that seemed the only answer.. I am thankful that someone got me to hospital in the 'early stages'

It is way too hard for your friends, partners, and loved ones to deal with.. thats what stopped me... I felt selfish.. And thankgod i had that ability to reason...
Charmaine's death came as a complete and devastating surprise.
We can say "if only" someone had reached her in time, "if only" someone had known. If for such as small word always leaves us with a burden of questions.
My heart goes out to her family and partner. No parent should have to bury their child. However, I hope they as well as others can look at Charmaine's death not as a tragic death, but a life complete.
Charmaine fulfilled her destiny.
May she be forevered remembered as she rests in peace.
May God bless her and her poor family and friends right now. What inner turmoil she must have been suffering. If only she was on the inside as she appeared to be on the outside, smiling and happy. Obviously she was getting help, but the medication just was not making her feel any better. I hope she is at peace now. I wish the same for her family and Simon. Please pray for them all.
